Hofstra Courses

The Columbia Society of Real Estate Appraisers partners with Hofstra University to offer a Residential Real Estate Appraiser Licensing/Certification program at the University campus in Hempstead, NY.

This program satisfies the course requirements of New York State Department of State for three levels of Residential licensing in New York: Appraiser Assistant, State Licensed, and State Certified. Courses are also recommended for real estate professionals looking to gain some knowledge in appraising. Courses are approved for real estate c.e. credit.

All courses must be taken in the sequence indicated below, except Fair Housing/Fair Lending and 15 Hour National USPAP.

Required Courses for Appraiser Assistant & State Licensed Appraiser
H5150	Basic Appraisal Principles (R-5)
H5151	Basic Appraisal Procedures (R-6)
H5153	Residential Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use (R-7)
H5154	Residential Appraisal Site Valuation and Cost Approach (R-8)
H5155	Residential Sales Comparison and Income Approach (R-9)
H5156	Residential Report Writing and Case Studies (R-10)
H5152	15 Hour National USPAP or Its Equivalent (USPAP)

Required Courses for State Certified Appraiser (the seven courses above plus the following three courses)
H5157	Statistics, Modeling and Finance (SMF)
H5158	Advanced Residential Applications and Case Studies (R-11)
H5159	Fair Housing/Fair Lending and Environmental Issues (RE-2)
